We were doing some research for a customer during the week about the different ways some of our customers sell tyres. How does each company calculate the selling price of a tyre?
These days every penny counts to the end user and now might be a good time to reconsider how you sell your tyres? Do you factor in the recycling charge? Perhaps you combine wheel balancing, valves & disposal into an all in price, so that you can quote easily to your customer. Maybe you sell each component individually and invoice each piece separately to keep everything transparent… Do you put on offers?
A quick Google shows that big retailers in the US put on eye watering freebies to get the customer in the door. Some of these include: free flat tyre repair, free lifetime rotation, free alignment checks, free rebalancing & 24 point safety inspection. If your customer had a puncture, would you fix it for free to ensure they came back for their new tyres?
A particular Irish company puts a paper cover over its customers spare wheels promoting its free puncture repair service. It stands to reason that when the customer has to put on their spare, the friendly reminder in the boot will see them visit you FIRST!
